Hello, I’m Bercilak. You’ll hear my vocals on There Is Science in this Child, For Fear of the Light, and That’s the Worm’s Game.

I first chanced upon the IML in a crossword in a Spanish newspaper a year or so ago. I thought it was a great name for a band – and a great concept – so I decided to leave my village, and my job as a farmhand, and journey to England to find out more.

After some dead ends, during which I chased a red-hooded midget around the back-alleys of Huntingdon, I finally met Tim and Barney, who agreed to let me sing on a few tracks in exchange for the goat that I had brought with me to this country.

And here I am. I miss my family back in Spain, and in particular the local cheese, but I’m still holding out that Sun Records will give me a record deal once they hear my warbling.

Most of my work with the IML is ludic and incendiary, like a burning teddy bear. It is playful, like a smoke ring that forms the face of Dolores del Rio. It is phat, like Orson Welles during those last lost years of his life. I hope you dig it.
